$220 LEGO Batmobile rumoured for September 2026

Good news if you’ve not had your fill of LEGO Batmobiles yet: a giant new Batman Returns version is reportedly on the way later this year…

BrickTap claims that 76355 Batman Returns Batmobile will launch on September 1 for $219.99, with 2,272 pieces in the box. That would be considerably smaller than 2019’s 76139 1989 Batmobile, which came in at 3,306 pieces for $249.99 (around $326 in today’s money).

In fact, it’s a little closer in scope to 2024’s 76328 Batman: The Classic TV Series Batmobile, which includes 1,822 pieces and retails for $149.99 in the US. But that change in size may be just what the new set needs to distinguish itself from its 1989 predecessor – especially given there’s not a tremendous amount of difference between the on-screen Batmobiles in Tim Burton’s movies.

For all intents and purposes, the Batmobile in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992) was the same car – the only real differences were the addition of windshield wipers and a slightly different paint job for the sequel. But don’t expect a neon orange Batmobile or anything: the 1989 car had matte ‘beetle shell’ paint that appeared close enough to black on screen, and then the Returns car just went full ham with gloss black everywhere.

If 76355 Batman Returns Batmobile materialises as rumoured, it’ll be our fourth Bat-car of the year following March’s 76331 Batman v Superman Batmobile, 76332 The Batman Batmobile and 76333 Batman & Robin Batmobile. Those were all tie-ins for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which lands on consoles and PC this week, but there’s no word on whether the new set will have any hook to the video game.

And that’s assuming it exists at all, because for now it’s just a rumour…
