The LEGO Group has finally unveiled its last Jurassic World: Dominion set, confirming the price and release date for 76949 Giganotosaurus & Therizinosaurus Attack.
The 810-piece set was first discovered on shelves at a brick-and-mortar Target store in Ohio, then purchased at a toy store in Canada (and subsequently reviewed), and ultimately revealed by a third-party online retailer – all before the LEGO Group had chance to unveil it through its own channels.
Now, the company has finally provided official images and details of the largest set of the new Jurassic World wave (bar 76956 T. rex Breakout, an 18+ Jurassic Park model). It’s apparently due to launch on April 16, a full day ahead of the rest of this year’s Jurassic sets, though that will presumably be confirmed when it goes live at LEGO.com.
It’s also the most expensive Jurassic World set of 2022, coming in at £114.99 in the UK, $119.99 in the US and €119.99 in the US. For your money, you’ll get two large moulded dinosaurs – both of which are brand new this year – and six minifigures, including Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Kayla Watts and Dr. Henry Wu.
The build itself consists of a large HQ with a lab, garage and observation tower, accompanied by an all-terrain vehicle and a helicopter. It’s mostly standard Jurassic fare, but those dinos and minifigures should be enough to pull in dedicated collectors – especially as this is the only way to get your hands on Alan Grant as seen in Jurassic World: Dominion.
The upcoming threequel will land in cinemas on June 10, 2022, nearly eight weeks after the launch of the tie-in sets. You’ll be able to purchase the majority of those from this Sunday, April 17.
