First look at LEGO Speed Champions August 2024 sets

An online retailer has published the first images of two more LEGO Speed Champions sets coming our way this August, which are the first eight-stud-wide remakes of previous six-stud-wide sets.

LEGO Speed Champions shifted scales in 2020, adding two studs in width to each of its cars, and in doing so effectively rebooted the line for collectors. Since then, the LEGO Group has continued to tackle new and original vehicles under the Speed Champions banner, resisting the temptation to return to and reimagine previous sets within the new template – until now.

European retailer Fnac has posted product listings for two new LEGO Speed Champions sets arriving on shelves in August, including 76934 Ferrari F40 and 76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – both of which are technically updates to 2019 LEGO Speed Champions sets. 76934 Ferrari F40

76934 Ferrari F40 revisits the same source material as 2019’s 75890 Ferrari F40 Competizione, although it doesn’t recreate exactly the same version of the legendary supercar as its predecessor. The new model appears to depict the roadgoing car rather than the Competizione variant, the latter of which was based on the race-ready LM adaptation of the F40. But at this size and scale, the differences aren’t really prominent enough to say that this isn’t our first updated six-wide LEGO Speed Champions set.

76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is probably LEGO Speed Champions’ most colourful car to date, mixing three different hues of flame yellowish orange, purple and teal. And this is technically another eight-wide update of a previous six-wide car, 75891 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Race Car – which also released in 2019 alongside the original F40 – only with much bolder graphic design thanks to its NASCAR branding.

It's also not the first LEGO set with this name: LEGO Technic 42153 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 arrived in 2023, sporting a more muted colour scheme of red, white, blue and black.
