A generally reliable source of LEGO rumours has just dropped a bunch of new info for 2025, including hints at new and returning themes such as Transformers and Superman.
Instagram user tandnbricks is answering community questions in a Q&A in their stories, and their replies are full of juicy tidbits of info pertaining to LEGO sets in 2025. Top of the list is the first word on the identity of next year’s LEGO The Lord of the Rings set, which is now said to be inspired by the Shire, but there are plenty of other hints and details on licensed themes and sets apparently on the horizon.
Check them all out below, but remember that nothing here is explicitly confirmed at the moment, so take it all with the customary pinch of salt for the time being.
LEGO DC and Marvel are both getting D2Cs

No prizes for guessing this one given both arms of the superhero pantheon have generally received at least one direct-to-consumer set for the past few years, but LEGO DC and Marvel are both said to be dropping flagship sets again in 2025. There’s no word yet on what those could be, but given LEGO Marvel has dropped a new modular building consistently since 2021 and the Fantastic Four are returning to the big screen next summer, a Baxter Building would make sense…
LEGO Speed Champions movie cars are coming back

77237 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX is already said to be among the LEGO Speed Champions line-up in 2025, and the specificity of that model – which appeared in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift – suggests we could be looking at the first movie-inspired car since 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34). Tandnbricks now states that the theme will indeed be returning to the silver screen for inspiration in 2025, though whether the Evo is the only such set remains to be seen.
LEGO Transformers will be back… but not in the way you think

The LEGO Group followed up 2022’s 10302 Optimus Prime with 10338 Bumblebee in 2024, but it sounds like we won’t have to wait two years for another LEGO Transformers set. The Hasbro theme will apparently return to shelves in 2025, as rumoured, but will seemingly break from the mould of existing sets by delivering a model without an 18+ price tag.
Previous reports have suggested that the LEGO Icons 2025 slate will include a non-18+ set, which could provide a slot for this rumoured Transformers release. But it would be more interesting to see LEGO Transformers get its own product line and theme beyond Icons, because that would pave the way for other Icons-exclusive licences – such as The Lord of the Rings – to do the same…
Superman movie sets are a 'sure' thing

Warner Bros. is already busy talking up the merchandising potential of James Gunn’s new Superman movie in 2025, and tandnbricks says LEGO sets hooked to the tentpole DC cinematic universe film are ‘for sure’ going to happen next year. At least one LEGO Superman set is already said to be coming in the form of a mech, but chances are that one’s not going to be movie-related.
The Legend of Zelda is skipping the first half of 2025

While Transformers may be broadening its horizons in 2025, it sounds like we’ll be waiting a little while yet for LEGO The Legend of Zelda to do the same. There are apparently no follow-ups to 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 planned for the first half of next year – but that doesn’t rule out anything happening in the second half of the year, which was the launch window for the tree anyway.
New themes are on the way…

A number of new LEGO themes have debuted throughout 2024, with three dropping just this week (Fortnite, Wednesday and Wicked). Tandnbricks says we can expect more of the same in 2025, with ‘several’ new themes reportedly arriving on shelves next year. There are no further details on what those might be.
…and older themes will return

It’s not just new stuff we can look forward to in 2025, though: tandnbricks claims that ‘some old themes or IPs are coming back too’, and more specifically ‘themes that haven’t had a set in the past year or two’. That means we’re probably not looking at the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean or BIONICLE, but more recently-dormant product lines, such as Indiana Jones, Avatar or (whisper it) VIDIYO. Your guess is as good as ours…
