LEGO Speed Champions 77240 Bugatti Centodieci recreates the 10th and final version of the Centodieci, paying tribute to a mighty lineage with mixed results.

Bugatti released its last Centodieci in 2022, a new car that took plenty of inspiration from the much-loved EB 110 model. LEGO Speed Champions has turned its hand to the iconic car, rendering the mid-engine hypercar in 291 pieces. Can 77240 Bugatti Centodieci live up to the legend? Let's take a closer look.

77240 Bugatti Centodieci starts off strong: the striking grille of the hyper sports car appears in LEGO form as white blades, slung low to the ground thanks to a series of plates along the base. That accurately recreates the recessed nose of the car, tapering through to a sweeping edge that's rounded out with a plate on the very front.

However, the accuracy falls down as you start to inch towards the rear. While the windscreen holds the same lightweight silhouette, the roof doesn't curve down in the same way, losing the aerodynamics of the real car. That ends in a spoiler that protrudes a single stud too high – a small difference, but one that changes the outline of the car as a whole.

That tapered line is intrinsic to the Centodieci, yet is broken by the overly chunky spoiler in 77240 Bugatti Centodieci. It's a real shame, as the rear details are as expertly designed as the front. Thin plates and a printed Bugatti bumper strike an impressive pose when viewed from behind – even if it's all elevated a little too high to be called accurate.

While 77240 Bugatti Centodieci works well when you're looking up close, stepping back a pace leaves a lot to be desired. It's almost as though the designers forgot which car was being built when they got to the back half, simply ending on a bland, cookie-cutter spoiler. One small issue in that spot and the entire shape of the car changes – unfortunately for the worse.

While the eye-catching alloys are a plus and the finer details are nailed down well, it means little when the overall look doesn't match the real car.
