Another deep dive into LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has revealed that the game is packed with references to classic LEGO themes.
We already know that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is going to be overflowing with DC Easter eggs, including several outfits based on Batman comics, games, movies and more. The latest look at the game came earlier this week in the form of a new dev diary checking out the customisable Batcave.
The Xbox podcast has dived into this topic with Jonathan Smith from TT Games to explore what else the Batcave and the new game have to offer. This includes a bevvy of new footage with some exciting LEGO-specific Easter eggs.
A quick look at a cinema in Gotham City showcases several posters outside, referencing Warner Bros. movies such as The Matrix and Wonka. Look closely, and you'll spot explicit Easter eggs for Alien Conquest, Adventurers and even a film from the modular buildings collection. It's good to see that TT Games can pay tribute to some specific parts of LEGO history, as well as that of Warner Bros., rather than just DC.
The graphics on the cinema's sign also have the signature gap between letters that you'd see on LEGO set stickers. Notably, the pigeons are different to the existing ELGO element, but this may be due to the game's development timeline and the relatively recent debut of LEGO pigeons.
Continue looking through the new footage from the video podcast, and you'll see just about every suit in the game finally revealed. There are far too many suits to spotlight individually in this report, but some of the highlights include Robin's suits from Teen Titans Go and The LEGO Batman Movie.
Both are familiar territory for the LEGO Group, as the former was featured in LEGO Dimensions. The latter's connection to the LEGO Group is clear and proves that the game is more than just inspired by the film.
One of the only characters whose outfits we don't get a full look at is Nightwing. Thankfully, we can see enough to confirm that his classic LEGO outfit is featured in the game. It was previously confirmed that Batman and Robin would have their classic LEGO game suits from one of the original TT Games titles, and we now know that Nightwing has one too.
Between this trio of suits and the in-game posters, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is going to be a treasure trove of references for fans of LEGO, DC and movies to discover. The game will be released on May 22, or May 19 if you pre-order the deluxe edition.
