After months of teases, trailers and nuggets of information, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will finally descend onto consoles and PCs in the coming days. The first TT Games title since LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in 2022, the upcoming interactive Caped Crusader experience represents the character’s latest outing since his last appearance in 2018’s LEGO DC Super-Villains.
To get you up to speed on LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight ahead of its imminent release, here’s everything you’ll need to know about the highly-anticipated video game, from the platforms it will be appearing on and which playable characters will be available to pre-order bonuses and DLC.
What is LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a third-person action-adventure title created by TT Games using the Unreal Engine 5 and published by Warner Bros. Games. It will feature a rich, story-driven narrative that combines over 86 years of DC lore into an all-new adventure, one that boasts nods to past Bat movies, TV shows, comic books and more media, combined with the developer’s trademark tongue-in-cheek LEGO humour.
Players will get to follow Bruce Wayne as he goes from being a child to training with the League of Shadows and eventually becoming Batman, encountering all manner of challenges and familiar foes along the way. The game features the ability to swap between two different characters on the go, plus there’s plenty of exploration, combat, puzzle-solving, driving sections, boss battles and more, with a huge open-world Gotham City to explore too.
Which platforms is LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on?
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store from launch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is also confirmed to be on its way at some point this year, but can only be wishlisted for now while we wait for more news regarding an official release date.
How many editions of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will there be?

There will be two versions of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight available, a Standard Edition that arrives on May 22 and a Deluxe Edition slightly earlier on May 19, both of which will receive physical and digital releases. The Deluxe Edition contains the base game and boosts it with the Legacy Collection, which comes with the Arkham Trilogy Pack, Batman Beyond Pack, and Party Music Pack, each of which includes seven new suits (one per playable character), one new Batmobile and a set of five Batcave props.

In addition, the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Deluxe Edition also allows access to the Mayhem Collection available in September 2026. The DLC features an all-new story mission with playable versions of The Joker and Harley Quinn as they cause chaos on the streets of Gotham City, seven extra suits, another Batmobile and five more Batcave props.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight's price

The Standard Edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Deluxe Edition is officially priced at £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 and the Deluxe Edition retails for £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99, although some retailers are already offering pre-orders for less.
Pre-order bonuses
Unlike previous TT Games titles, there’s no physical minifigure or set included with either version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. However, those who place pre-orders for the title will be able to secure The Dark Knight Returns suit, while advance purchases of the Deluxe Edition receive 72-hours early access to the game on May 19.
Players who link their WB Games accounts at any time from now until after the game has been released can also unlock an exclusive Golden Age Batsuit for free. Beyond that, various Twitch drops will be happening from May 19 to May 31, with players able to score extra Batcave props just by watching specific streams.
On top of those items, there are special QR codes included in four LEGO DC sets which can be redeemed for in-game goodies. Buying 76331 Batman v Superman Batmobile, 76332 The Batman Batmobile and 76333 Batman & Robin Batmobile gives you access to digital versions of the cars and gold variants, 76330 Batman Logo unlocks a Golden Batman suit and purchasing all four models adds a gold red brick customiser.
Playable characters, suits and vehicles
While past TT Games offerings have featured rosters of hundreds of different characters, players will only be able to choose from seven in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Those include Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Jim Gordon, Batgirl, Catwoman and the mysterious Talia al Ghul, each of which has their own unique abilities, such as Gordon’s Foam Sprayer, Robin’s Line Launcher and Catwoman’s whip.

What’s more, each playable character will be able to acquire a number of different suits to choose from, all based on costumes from various Bat media, with over 100 outfits in total. Suits can be swapped around at any time, but they don’t offer any additional gameplay functionality.
On top of outfits, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will also include over 20 vehicles to drive, ride and customise, such as the classic Batman ’66 Batmobile, the Christopher Nolan-era Tumbler, GCPD cars and bikes and many more, for when walking, grappling or gliding aren’t the fastest ways to get around.
It’s worth noting that, once a particular side quest has been completed, players will then be able hitch a ride on Gotham City’s subway trains too, enabling them to reach locations as quickly as possible using Fast Travel points on the map.
Combat and upgrades

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight features a dynamic combat system that draws its inspiration from Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham Asylum games and allows for fluid attacks (complete with comic book sound effects), chain combos and over-the-top takedowns, especially when a player’s Focus Bar becomes full.

Each character has basic abilities and gadgets to master, which can then be upgraded via their own progression tree systems found at the Batcave’s workbench and unlocked by spending a combination of collectible WayneTech chips, gold Skill Bricks and studs.

For instance, Batman can enhance his humble Batarangs in a number of different ways, transforming the weapon into a Batarang Combo for stunning multiple enemies at the same time, a Concussive Batarang for taking out large groups of foes, a Sonic Batarang to disorient bad guys and more.
Smash and grab

As with most LEGO games, players can bash and destroy all kinds of brick-built items they encounter during their adventures. As a reward, they’ll receive LEGO studs of different denominations to spend on various in-game items, and the more studs that you collect, the higher the stud multiplier total becomes.

What’s more, breakable LEGO items can sometimes be rebuilt to assist with certain tricky level challenges, such as constructing a giant red fist to bash down a locked door, as well as reveal hidden collectibles.
How many levels are there?

From what we know, there will be around 20 core story missions split across six chapters, which should take roughly 15 hours to complete in total. However, those looking to finish LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight with 100% are going to have to put in more than 50 hours in order to do so.

As well as the main missions, the game also boasts a sprawling, immersive and incredibly detailed open-world Gotham City to explore, set across four islands. Each location will become unlocked as players progress through the game, with additional areas popping up on the map that feature side quests, combat challenges, driving trials, hidden WayneTech caches, Riddler trophies, Cluemaster puzzle boxes, Easter eggs and so much more.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight even includes a Batcave that players can expand by purchasing special excavating equipment with studs they’ve collected. The Batcave starts off as little more than a hole in the ground, but can then be opened up over time into a huge, cavernous location and used to store suits, vehicles and over 250 customisable props and trophies collected along the way.
Difficulty settings

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is looking to secure as wide an audience as possible, so it makes sense that players will be able to change the game’s difficulty at any point. There are three challenge settings that include Classic (easy mode with unlimited lives), Caped Crusader (a tougher experience with more enemies and unlimited lives) and Dark Knight, (challenging combat with limited lives).
Detective Mode and stealth

Also similar to a feature in the Arkham Asylum games is LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s Detective Mode. This ability allows players to activate a quick sonar pulse enabling them to scan their surroundings and discover objectives, enemy locations, secrets, collectibles and much more.
Detective Mode also plays a big part in characters being able to sneak around levels without being spotted or for performing stealth takedowns, which comes in handy for battles with multiple foes, all while dodging unsuspecting bad guys.
Does LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight have co-op?

As with many previous TT Games titles, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does have local split-screen co-op with a drop-in, drop-out system for two players to join forces. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t include any options for online multiplayer action.
Bat-Mite’s store

During the game, players will encounter Bat-Mite stores dotted around Gotham City and even in the Batcave. These locations are run by the fifth dimensional imp himself and offer gamers the chance to purchase additional suits, Batcave props, trophies and more, all of which cost precious LEGO studs.
The Standard Edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 22 and can be wishlisted on Switch 2 for release sometime in 2026. Those who pick up the Deluxe Edition of the game will be able to play it a full three days earlier on May 19.
