LEGO Buddy the Elf rumoured to be bringing holiday cheer

Rumours suggest the LEGO Group may be releasing 40865 Buddy the Elf this holiday season, based on the classic Will Ferrell comedy film.

The LEGO Group’s ongoing search for even more licensed properties to snap up has recently resulted in the likes of KPop Demon Hunters, Pokémon and Shrek being added to the company’s product line-up. That range of IP-inspired sets might be growing yet again later this year, with a comedy classic potentially receiving the same brick-built treatment.

Once again, it’s BrickTap on Reddit that is reporting on fresh rumours of Buddy the Elf launching on October 1, 2026, with the LEGO model said to be priced at $60 for 719 pieces. There are no other hints as to what the set might consist of, but recent LEGO Editions buildable figure releases such as 43015 Lionel Messi – Soccer Legend may be some indication of what to possibly expect.

Elf 1

For those unaware, Elf is a beloved 2003 Christmas comedy movie starring Will Ferrell and directed by a pre-The Mandalorian Jon Favreau. The film has become a fan-favourite and oft-quoted classic, with a possible LEGO release based on the character making a lot of sense ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

There are no hints at this stage as to exactly which LEGO theme the rumoured model might be attached to or if this might be the first of more potential LEGO Elf releases further down the line.

Elf 2

We’re currently some way off Christmas 2026, so be sure to take this latest rumour with a pinch of pre-seasonal cheer for now, until such time as 40865 Buddy the Elf is officially confirmed.
