LEGO Racing F1 ACADEMY car and tie-in Speed Champions set revealed

The LEGO Group has officially revealed the first Speed Champions F1 ACADEMY set, adapting a real-life car that will be hitting the grid in 2026 under the LEGO Racing brand.

Zooming on to shelves in March 2026, 77258 F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car recreates the racer that will be driven in real life by Esmee Kosterman, kick-starting a new multi-year partnership between the LEGO Group and F1 ACADEMY (which builds on the Danish company’s existing partnership with Formula 1). Twenty-year-old Kosterman, who hails from the Netherlands, will be the premiere driver for LEGO Racing in 2026.

The LEGO set captures the yellow, blue and pink livery of the real car, which combines colours from both the LEGO brand and F1 ACADEMY. LEGO designers Beatrice Amoretti and Maria Jedryszek unveiled the new LEGO Speed Champions set and livery alongside F1 ACADEMY Managing Director Susie Wolff and the LEGO Group’s Chief Product & Marketing Officer Julia Goldin at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

“F1 ACADEMY is levelling the playing field in motorsport, giving young female athletes a clear pathway to achieve their dreams in the top tiers of the sport,” said Goldin. “We can’t wait to see LEGO Racing join the F1 ACADEMY grid and are so excited to have Esmee as our driver.

“For the first time, fans can hold their favourite F1 ACADEMY LEGO car in their hands, and I’m thrilled that we’re securing female representation in racing toys for young girls. We hope the infusion of LEGO play and creativity to this exciting sport inspires the next generation of young women in motorsport, as well as the female builders of tomorrow, that anything is possible.”

Both the LEGO set and on-track car feature the number 32 prominently, and while the press release doesn’t explicitly mention it, that’s presumably a reference to the year the LEGO Group was founded (1932). The 201-piece set also includes a female driver (who seems to be based loosely on Kosterman) and is available to pre-order now ahead of its March 1 release for £22.99 / $27.99 / €27.99.
