LEGO Icons 10315 Tranquil Garden officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially unveiled 10315 Tranquil Garden, a reconfigurable display model based on a traditional Japanese garden.

Billed as a ‘mindful building project’, the scenic 1,363-piece model includes a pavilion with a tea ceremony room, trees, lotus flowers, rocks, a stream, an arched bridge, koi carp and stone lanterns. It all comes together on a black base, reminiscent of other LEGO display models such as the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection and the Architecture range – but with one crucial difference.

10315 Tranquil Garden’s various elements can apparently be rearranged simply by lifting them out of the base and popping them somewhere else, thanks to slots built into the model’s base. The layout of those slots means it might be tricky to place the pavilion anywhere other than one side of the stream – it’s pretty big – but the trees and flowers should be pretty simple to move around.

You won’t find any minifigures in 10315 Tranquil Garden, presumably to not put off adults looking for a more grown-up model, but the tea ceremony room and arched bridge do look to be at the right scale if you want to add your own characters to the scene. (A peaceful gardener, maybe? Or warring NINJAGO factions, if your idea of tranquillity is 100% action.)

While there's nothing explicitly saying this is part of the Botanical Collection, the LEGO Group has photographed it next to 10281 Bonsai Tree, 10311 Orchid and so on, so it's clearly intended for the same target audience.

10315 Tranquil Garden launches on August 1 for £94.99 in the UK, $109.99 in the US and €104.99 in Europe.
