LEGO Mario Kart is said to be adding Luigi to the grid in 2026

One of the best LEGO Mario Kart sets of 2025 is said to be getting an immediate follow-up in 2026, adding Luigi to the grid.

Currently the only LEGO Super Mario set rumoured for 2026 full stop, 72050 Luigi & Kart is said to be arriving in April and will be marked 18+. That’s according to previous rumours and fresh info from pure-gaming.fr, republished by BrickTap, and all together suggests we’re looking at a companion for 2025’s 72037 Mario & Standard Kart.

We can’t know that for sure right now, of course, because this set is still rumoured – but it’s hard to see what else it could be given the information we currently have to hand. And if 72050 Luigi & Kart is indeed a giant buildable Luigi with a corresponding kart, it should hopefully make for another stand-out set in not only the LEGO Super Mario theme but the entire 2026 portfolio.

72037 Mario & Standard Kart took second place in Brick Fanatics’ top 10 LEGO sets of 2025, and for good reason: as well as an impressively authentic and surprisingly articulated finished model, the 1,972-piece set served up one of the very best building experiences of the year. If 72050 Luigi & Kart can come anywhere close to that, we’re hopefully looking at something pretty special.

For now, take everything beyond the set name and number as speculation, and even those details shouldn’t be considered truly confirmed until we hear directly from the LEGO Group. But with no other LEGO Super Mario sets even rumoured for 2026 so far, the slate is looking pretty spartan right now…
