LEGO Marvel now has two display-centric battle collections

LEGO Marvel now has two display-centric battle set collections, but despite their similarities, there are a few differences between them.

Next year's first LEGO Marvel models introduce the new Epic Battle range of sets, calling to mind the Final Battle series that has been ongoing in previous years, and we've spotted a few differences between them based on the two new sets – 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman and 76343 Epic Battle: Hulkbuster vs. The Hulk.

From differences in the builds and average size to the timing of the movie scenes themselves, here's a closer analysis of the LEGO Marvel Final Battle and Epic Battle range.

Average size and price

While the range is still in its early days, starting from January 1, the LEGO Marvel Epic Battle Collection is, on average, much smaller and more affordable than the Final Battle models so far. 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman has 201 pieces for £19.99 / $24.99 / €24.99, while 76343 Epic Battle: Hulkbuster vs. The Hulk has 413 pieces for £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99.

On average, the four Final Battle sets cost £77.99, and there's only one under that average. 76280 Spider-Man vs. Sandman: Final Battle is an outlier in the Final Battle Range, including 347 pieces for £31.99 / $37.99 / €37.99. It acts mostly as an expansion to 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle, but it is worth noting that the Final Battle range hasn't always been more expensive than the Epic Battle collection.

An additional nameplate

One outstanding difference between the Final Battle and Epic Battle sets is that the newer collection's creations include a nameplate titling the battle and naming the movie on which the set is based. It adds even more display value to the builds compared to the Final Battle builds, while maintaining the circular black base

Movie timing

The Epic Battle name strongly implies that this new collection is intended to cover battles from Marvel movies that aren't from the end of the film, and 76343 Epic Battle: Hulkbuster vs. The Hulk fits that mould. 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman doesn't fit quite as well, though.

76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman covers the confrontation between Spider-Man, Sandman and Venom from the end of Spider-Man 3, but it is not labelled as a Final Battle build. It might be that the LEGO Group considers the confrontation between Spider-Man and Venom to be the final battle of the film, but it's still fairly close to the final fight of the movie to not be labelled a Final Battle set.

In fact, this and the differences listed above suggest that the Epic Battle range is actually an evolution of the Final Battle collection, now expanded to cover more than just the last battle of the movie, while furthering the display value and expanding the price points. There are no Final Battle sets currently confirmed for 2026, but whether this is true remains to be seen.

Both 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman and 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman are launching next year on January 1, 2026, alongside a wider range of Marvel models. Click here to catch up on the newly announced sets.
