LEGO One Piece Season 2 sets introduce a new type of baby figure

The full reveal of this summer’s LEGO One Piece sets has solved the mystery of the Tony Tony Chopper figure, confirming there’s a new baby on the block for 2026.

Up until now the only LEGO baby figures were completely static from the neck down, which doesn’t sound much like the babies we know. But to bring the inimitable Tony Tony Chopper to life, the LEGO One Piece team has cooked up a brand new baby body element with articulated hands – the first of its kind in the LEGO minifigure pantheon.

Exactly how the team had approached this character was something of a mystery until this point, as an initial teaser suggested the Chopper figure didn’t match the proportions of either a traditional LEGO baby figure or a regular LEGO minifigure. Our best guess was that he’s something of a halfway house between the two – and that very much appears to be the case across the Season 2 sets.

The new Tony Tony Chopper figure shows up in the smallest set of the summer wave, 75641 Dr. Hiriluk’s Hideout, alongside 75645 Battle at Drum Castle. Those are two different variants, too – but only by dint of their face prints, as their body pieces otherwise look to be identical. The LEGO Group has also apparently found a way to immediately repurpose this piece as Mr. 13's body in 75644 Dorry vs. Brogy – Giants of Little Garden.

The question now is whether it will show up in any themes beyond One Piece, but it’s tricky to say at this stage. Certain new LEGO elements are often locked to their particular licences (you won’t see a Darth Vader helmet anywhere else but Star Wars, for example), and the proportions of this one aren’t necessarily the most versatile either.

To achieve articulation in the hands they’re a bit bigger than you’d expect, and while that’s fine for a half-reindeer, half-human character (or an otter, in Mr. 13's case), it might be a step too far for a regular baby. Still, it’s nice to finally have confirmation that this is indeed a new piece altogether – and it's also the second new tiny baby piece for 2026 following the revised Grogu mould that’s debuting later this month.
