There’s a sneaky surprise hidden within yesterday’s LEGO Pokémon announcement trailer, an Easter egg that many fans might not have picked up on.
In news that both shocked and delighted many fans, the LEGO Group and the Pokémon Company this week revealed an upcoming collaboration arriving sometime in 2026. LEGO Pokémon will be launching as a dedicated theme next year, although there’s next-to-no information regarding what that unique partnership might look like so far.
The LEGO Pokémon announcement trailer was also a little short on details, other than logos for both companies and a quick glimpse of a brick-built Pikachu model’s instantly-recognisable tail. However, some eagle-eyed fans with a quick finger may have paused the video and spotted another nod to the catch ’em all franchise hiding within the video.
X (formerly Twitter) user PenPlays appears to be the first to have noted that there are couple of blink-and-you’ll-miss-them frames in the LEGO Pokémon trailer where the standard LEGO logo on one of the studs is replaced with a Poké Ball instead.
Fast forward slightly and the LEGO logo then appears on the stud again, with no sign of the Poké Ball on any of the other elements. While we suspect this might have just been a knowing nod to the fans and the brand, it could hint at even closer ties between the two entertainment giants.

With the LEGO Group and the Pokémon Company having joined forces for a multi-year partnership, the LEGO Pokémon theme could well be with us for some time to come. While the LEGO logo only appeared on individual studs from late 1954 and has changed over time, we’re unaware of any other logos ever having been added on studs to date.
For now, we’re going to chalk this one up as an intriguing Easter egg that might come to nothing, but we’ll know for sure once LEGO Pokémon sets start hitting store shelves in 2026.
