The LEGO Star Wars error we've all been waiting for has finally been found, at least partially, as a Kenobi minifigure has one foot in the grave.
Errors on LEGO pieces and minifigures are rare, but entirely possible. Previous examples shared by the community have included a double-eyed Bullet Bill, a stomach-faced Chewbacca and Link with dyed hair. Now, one fan on Reddit has shared what may just be the greatest LEGO minifigure mistake of all time.
MTredit shared their tale earlier this month, revealing that their Obi-Wan Kenobi minifigure from
Most excitingly, this is the closest we've ever come to an official LEGO Star Wars Force Ghost minifigure, even if it's entirely unintentional. The minifigure is approximately one-tenth Force Ghost, or as 447irradiatedhobos in the comments put it, it's one foot in the grave.
LEGO Star Wars enthusiasts have been waiting decades for a Force Ghost minifigure of some kind, but a number of obstacles standing between us and fully-translucent minifigures have stopped any such efforts so far. That's not to say that they're not on the table for the LEGO Star Wars design team, though.
“The reason for not doing it was that the minifigures are made out of many different types of plastic, because they need to have different abilities and characteristics,” LEGO Star Wars Creative Lead Jens Kronvold Frederiksen explained at LEGO Fan Media Days 2021.
“Some have to be flexible, some need to use clutch power and whatnot,” adds Design Manager Michael Lee Stockwell. “So the hands are a different material from the heads, for example.”

LEGO DREAMZzz and other themes have continued to bring us closer to the dream of a stable, transparent minifigure, but it's been a long road so far. Having such a long-awaited LEGO Star Wars minifigure break during play wouldn't be ideal, so the team aren't willing to commit until they know it can be done right.
“Yeah, that had prevented us from making all the bits from the minifigures consistently transparent,” Jens continues. “We thought it would look bad if you had a Force Ghost with a solid-colour hip element and hands or whatever. So we simply went away, because we didn’t think it was the right quality.”
“It’s not something that’s around the corner…” Jens starts.
“…but it is on the table,” Michael adds. “And we’re not the only theme that would be interested in that. There are others who are looking into that. So never say never – things are changing. And there’s a lot of work being done in the plastic and technology part of things. So let’s hope it’ll come.”
While we continue to wait and hope for a LEGO Star Wars Force Ghost minifigure, know that MTredit holds one of the closest minifigures to that dream, which would likely fetch a small fortune on the secondary marketplace.
