LEGO Technic 2024 sets return to space with rovers and orbiting planets

2024’s first batch of reported LEGO Technic sets includes a heavy focus on space exploration, with a brand new Mars rover and a model of the Earth, Sun and Moon in orbit.

A total of 13 different LEGO Technic sets are currently listed for release in early 2024 on price comparison site brickmerge.de, running the gamut from a €9.99 bulldozer all the way up to a mystery 18+ set at €219.99. January’s wave of six sets includes three different licence partners with Mack, John Deere and NEOM McLaren, the latter of which is apparently getting a second set in March. Both of those are (naturally) race cars, and both are attractively-priced at €26.99 and €52.99.

LEGO Technic also appears to be leaning into the idea of space vehicles in 2024, following up this summer’s 42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance with 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78, 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover and 42181 VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81. (Those set names may not be final.) Perhaps more intriguing than those vehicles is 42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit, which may be a functional, orbiting recreation of the Earth and our Sun and Moon.

Also among these early listings – which include no images – are a handful of sets with no names, so there’s still plenty to learn about what LEGO Technic has in store for 2024. For now, check out all the information we have so far in the table below, and remember that none of it is confirmed yet.
