The up-scaled LEGO minifigure we’ve all been waiting for is rumoured to be rocketing on to shelves at last in 2026.
In what would surely be a slam-dunk for the LEGO Group, a.clay.brick has shared (via a Brick Tap source) that an up-scaled version of the Classic Space astronaut minifigure is on the way at some point next year, following in the footsteps of 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure, 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure and the LEGO House-exclusive 40504 A Minifigure Tribute (which depicts Pirates minifigure Captain Redbeard).
It’s said to be the blue astronaut specifically, which is arguably still the minifigure’s most iconic colourway despite having not appeared in a LEGO set since 1988. That’s mostly thanks to Benny’s role in The LEGO Movie and his corresponding minifigures, which include unique prints and a helmet with a damaged visor.

With those cinematic adventures firmly in the rearview mirror, however, it seems all too likely that any future up-scaled blue Classic Space astronaut would take a more conventional approach to the minifigure’s design. We’re only speculating there as the original rumour simply states that an ‘up-scaled blue classic spaceman’ is coming in 2026 – no more, no less.
That said, it wouldn’t really be a surprise given that’s the minifigure the community has been asking for since the first of these sets debuted in 2023, and this year’s 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut – a gift-with-purchase that’s available right now at LEGO.com with qualifying orders – has already given us a taste of buildable Classic Space minifigures.

For now, take this rumour with the usual grain of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group, and head over to our 2026 LEGO sets page for a full round-up of everything said to be on the way next year.
