Mysterious 2025 LEGO set pops up at random retailers

A listing for a new and unrevealed LEGO set supposedly on the way in 2025 has popped up at a handful of random retailers around the world.

Online retailers including GAME, 2TToys and Moore Wilson’s – situated in the UK, Belgium and New Zealand respectively – have published listings for 10428 Big Interactive Community Train, an unannounced set that appears to fit into the same numbering sequence as the current LEGO DUPLO range. None of the sites have shared images, but GAME says it’s due to release on January 17, 2025.

In fact, you can already pre-order 10428 Big Interactive Community Train from GAME if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, but this does take blind buying to a whole new level: the set is expected to retail for £125 in the UK (though is actually discounted to £100 at GAME). While DUPLO sets probably won’t be of interest to most people reading this story, this is still a curious oddity for those who like to keep track of new releases.

After all, the LEGO Group is probably months away from officially revealing its DUPLO 2025 line-up, and reveals from retailers typically come hand in hand with images at least. There are also a few regular culprits who deploy listings for sets ahead of their appearance on LEGO.com, and none of these three are among them. It all adds up to a pretty strange situation.

As for 10428 Big Interactive Community Train itself, well… it’s not terribly hard to imagine what it might include. There’ll be a train no doubt, plus a bunch of DUPLO characters (there’s your community), and perhaps something to help it move (for the interactive bit). This would actually be the joint-most expensive LEGO DUPLO set of all time, tying with 2023’s 10994 3in1 Family House.

Given it’s apparently launching 18 months on from that model, the LEGO Group has presumably determined there is indeed a sustainable market for these much larger and more expensive DUPLO sets, which in itself is pretty interesting. The last large DUPLO train dropped in 2018, rolling on to shelves in 10875 Cargo Train for £114.99 / $129.99 / €129.99.

If you’ve reached this point in the story and still couldn’t care less about DUPLO, just think: there’s always a chance this could precede retailer listings for more interesting or relevant 2025 sets…
