Three things to love about the LEGO Enterprise, even if you're not a Trekkie

While LEGO Icons 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D is built for Star Trek fans, there's plenty to appreciate even if you're not a Trekkie.

Much like any first foray into a new franchise, 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D is packed with references to Star Trek. However, it's also a 3,600-piece feat of LEGO engineering, so there's plenty to catch the eye, even if you, like me, have never seen a single scene of the long-running franchise.

Here are some of the best features from 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, coming from a non-Trekkie.

A dynamic display option

Not only is the design of the deflector dish a point of personal pride for the LEGO graphic design team, but it also brings 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D to life in a way that many other brick-built space ships (of which there are many) are not. Being 'lit up' blue brings out the effect of the ship being engaged, as though it were mid-flight.

Where other ships on a similar scale, like 75409 Jango Fett's Firespray-Class Starship, can be posed or 'swooshed' to appear as though they are travelling, 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D's blue printed element and the dynamic display stand actually make it look as though it's in motion. Even to a non-fan, it's a very nice final look.

LEGO-fied inclusions

LEGO Star Wars has built up a canon all of its own through LEGO in-jokes and references, in the sets, video games, and even TV shows. With the very first LEGO Star Trek set, that same LEGO-fication is carrying through to this new franchise, as seen with little references throughout.

As well as the LEGO brick on Deanna's PADD pictured above, the whole ship is also powered by Octan, LEGO's own in-universe power source. It's a neat balance between staying authentic to the source material of Star Trek, while also including some fun brick-built jokes for fans.

A play feature that goes deep

From an outside perspective, the fact that 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D depicts an interactive feature that's only seen in a handful of moments in the TV shows is an impressive level of attention to detail. Rather than staying purely at the surface level, the Icons team has done what it does best and chosen some specific moments to recreate forever. As a LEGO fan, that's certainly something to appreciate.

LEGO Icons 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D will be available to buy from November 28, 2025, retailing at £349.99 in the UK, $399.99 in the US, and from €379.99 in Europe. 40768 Type-15 Shuttlepod will be available exclusively with the purchase of the set from November 28 to December 1, or while stocks last.
